Intro to Literature (4-6)

HERO Class Syllabus for 2008-2009

Course Description: This is a semester course that introduces students to the different types of literature.  They will learn about symbolism, metaphors, similes, themes, plot, character roles, etc.

Supplies:  A folder with loose-leaf paper and 2 pencils.

Grading Information: Because this class is a discussion based class, students will earn highest amount of points for class participation. They will also earn points for class attendance and written assignments.  There is a deduction for late assignments.  See the “Guidelines for Success” section.

Grading Scale:  Each student will receive a percentage based on the guidelines listed below.

Guidelines for Success:

·         Class participation  - 50%

·         Class attendance  - 25%

·         Written Assignment Criteria  - 25%

·         Late Work  -  A 3 point deduction will be taken off of the total for each week the assignment is late.
