HERO Class Syllabus for 2008-2009
Course Description:
Public speaking is a skill that can be mastered. In Beginning Public Speaking students will begin to experience the world of presentation including voice, body and mind preparation. They will discover what makes a good opener and closing for a speech. Students will learn about the different kinds of speeches. There will be team presentations and well as individual presentations given. 3-4 for the semester total. Homework will be moderate
A Debate topic will be chosen and preparation will begin. Actual debate will be in second semester. ***This is a full year class.**
Every week students will rotate bringing in the “quote of the week.”

Grading Information:
50% classroom attendance and participation. If student is late to class more than twice without a parent note ½ point will be deducted. If student misses class without a doctors note or parent note 1 point will be deducted.
50% for turning in assignments & giving presentations.. Each HERO class day an assignment or presentation is late the student will lose 3 points.
