Course Description:

HERO’s very own drama troop has come to town!  Students will be learning about theatre through dramatic exercises, improvisation and pantomimes.  We will be studying a variety of theatre types from Tall Tales to Shakespeare.  Part of the class will involve writing our own monologues and collaborating in groups to create original scenes.  We will learn and perform a one act play for both first and second semester on January 12th and May 11th.  The goals of the class are to be able to see theatre through the eyes of the playwright, actor, designer, and director, and to collaborate as a troop.

Grading Information:

Students will be graded daily on five things:  Attendance (being on time), Being prepared with all supplies required for the course, Attitude, Participation, and Effort.

Grading Scale:  Students will be given a percentage grade.

Guidelines for Success:

·         Class participation:  Students will demonstrate participation by working and collaborating in groups, participating in classroom exercises and discussions and contributing to each of the productions.

·         Class attendance:  Students will demonstrate attendance by being on-time for class and by being prepared for class with materials ready.

·         Written assignments:  There are no written assignments for this course. Students are expected to complete in class group work as well as time spent outside class on line memorization.
