HERO Class Syllabus for 2008-2009
Course Texts:
We will be using the two book series from Critical Thinking Books and Software.
- Critical Thinking Text Book – Building Thinking Skills Level 2
- Also students will be reading The Westing Game , as homework.

Course Description:
This is a full year class. Students will begin to learn how to classify groups, make word pairs, analogies, problem solving, vocabulary expansion and deductive thinking. All of this will begin to build study skills for standardized testing. Teaching students how to connect words and relationships.
Guidelines for Success
Class Assignments: We will engage in story and discussion problems that will help students develop these fundamentals of critical thinking.
Grading Information:
50% classroom attendance and participation. If student is late to class more than twice without a parent note ½ point will be deducted. If student misses class without a doctor’s note or parent note 1 point will be deducted.
50% for turning in assignments. Each HERO class day an assignment is late the student will lose 3 points.
