Course Description:

Students must be able to type with both hands at 20 word per minute before they sign up for this class. Each student will be required to spend 1-2 hours per week working on keyboarding at home.  In class they will complete a keyboarding lesson per week so progress can be documented by the instructor. Students will be introduced to the basics  of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.   They will use Word to format various documents using the formatting tools.  They will learn the basic set-up of a database and how to format in Excel.  They will learn how to set-up and design a basic presentation of slides using PowerPoint and present it to the class. The will learn internet safety, etiquette, and researching skills.

Grading Information:

Students will be given a percentage grade based on attendance, class participation, effort, and completion of projects. 

Guidelines for Success:

·         Class participation:  Students will demonstrate participation by practicing typing skills at home completing their practice log, and staying on task while working on class projects.

·         Class attendance:  Students will demonstrate attendance by being on time for class and by being prepared for class with materials ready.
