Students will be graded on attendance and in class effort.  

 

First Semester Topics:

 

Week 1:  Introduction to color and watercolor techniques

Week 2:  Brushwork

Week 3:  Line and edge work using paints and watercolor pencils

Week 4:  Artist study: Seurat (shading and painting with dots)

Week 5:  Artist study: Seurat (shading and painting with dots)

Week 6:  Fall still life (utilize watercolor crayons and texturing techniques)

Week 7:  Fall still life (utilize watercolor crayons and texturing techniques)      

Week 8:  Artist study: Escher (work with patterns and contrasting colors)

Week 9:  Artist study: Escher (work with patterns and contrasting colors)

Week 10:  Minnesota theme painting using techniques studied to date

Week 11: Artist study: painting like Van Gogh

Week 12: Artist study: painting like Van Gogh

Week 13: Make watercolor Christmas ornaments

Week 14: Make watercolor Christmas ornaments

Week 15: Using white in watercolor – snow scene

Week 16: Work on subject of student’s choice

Week 17: Work on subject of student’s choice
