Textile Painting/Dyeing
Class Description
This is a one semester class.
We will be exploring the difference between painting and dyeing on silk and cotton. We will be working with resists like guttas and wax. We will also be doing some tie-dyeing so get those ALL cotton t-shirts and pajama pants out! By the end of the class you will have 2 or more pieces of art for the art show in the spring.

Cost and Supplies
$10 Lab fee, old shirt to cover up with, all cotton clothes to tie-dye above what is provided and pictures or drawings to transfer to silk.
Expectations
Be willing to stretch your creativity.
Because most of the work is done during class time attendance is vital.
For safety reasons listening and following instructions is a must.
At lest 2 pieces of art will be displayed in the Art Show, 4/20/09.

Class Outline
- Silk Painting.
- a. Resists, guttas and salts
- b. A study in colors.
- Complete a Work of Art worthy for the Art Show.
- Midterm Time you should have at lest two quality pieces of art completed.
- Dying
- a. Tie-dying: you are welcome to bring extra all cotton clothing I will proved 2 t-shirts.
- We will also be dying on 10×10 inch squares.
- b. Batiking, using wax as a resist with dyes.
- Complete a Work of Art for the Art Show.
- What to do with fabric once painted or died?
- a. Decorate hoops.
- b. Make art collages.
- c. Artist trading cards.
- d. Small sewing ideas i.e. pillows.
- Complete one more Work of Art using your favorite technique.
- Final turn in at lest 2 of your favorite pieces.
