Course Description:

This 34week program consists of the exploration of the Great Artists.  Introducing the artists, their history, and prints of their work. Combining art history and art productions to lead students to gain an understanding of basic art principles and design elements.

Artists and Art Projects:

This area of study offers art-making activities designed for a further understanding of a particular medium or approach to making art.  We will use watercolors, pastels, acrylics, clay and other media in our work.

Exercises:

Using these medias and activities will enable students to increase their awareness of the artists and their work and also encourage them to draw their own conclusions about what makes the work of certain artists timeless.

Project, Research & Writing:

To obtain credit for this class, a minimum of three hours of outside work will be required each week.  This area of study requires independent research and writing on the student’s part.  Here, students might be asked to make a timeline showing an artists different periods and major works or to describe how a particular event influenced an artist, including bibliographies and foot notes.
